Health and Psychosocial Risks among Marine Fishing Workers : a Systemic Study in the Ports of Western Algeria (Oran, Mostaganem, Aïn Témouchent and Tlemcen).

Project type : Institutional Projects (PE)
Theme : Public Health and Society
Summary

Algerian fishermen suffer from occupational hazards that threaten their health and safety. These hazards involve physical, psychological, social and environmental factors, leading to an increased prevalence of many health problems, such as musculoskeletal disorders, cardiovascular diseases and mental health problems, as well as higher rates of occupational accidents. The lack of awareness of the importance of occupational safety and health and the weak implementation of preventive measures contribute significantly to the exacerbation of these problems, which requires urgent measures to protect the health and safety of this category of workers.
