Places of Memory of the National Movement and the Liberation Revolution in the Oran Departemnt between 1919-1962

Project type : Institutional Projects (PE)
Theme : History and the Relationship with National Memory
Summary

The problem revolves around what the Marie Claire lavabre defines as "the memorial phenomenon", where memory is associated with certain events and not others, and acquires knowledge due to the prevalence of what is known as the obsession with remembrance.
Commemorative obsession is what Algeria experienced directly and after independence, through its interest in the families of martyrs and moudjahidines, and in archives, broadcasting programs for the liberation revolution, building memorials, reviving celebrations, naming martyrs on schools and various buildings, such as stadiums, for example, and completing cinematic works. However, this obsession has been reflected in the image of memory in Algeria and in the way it has been chosen, which is why in this study we will address the problem of memory in Algeria outside its official framework by answering two questions:
- What are the places of memory linked to the Algerian national movement in the Oran area?
- What are the images of the missing memory of the liberation revolution in the Oran area between 1919 and 1962 ?
