The Internal Migrations in Algeria – History and Actuality

This new project on "internal migrations in Algeria" is part of the research field: "Historical knowledge, memories and powers" (“Socio-anthropology of history and memory” Division), particularly in the sub-field on "historical demography", with an extension to other disciplines such as history, sociology and anthropology, and to the post-independence period of Algeria.
Research on migrations at the CRASC, like the field of migration studies in Algeria generally, is dominated by issues related to external migrations. The same observation for the sections of publications and scientific events. Trying to reduce this deficit of academic knowledge on internal migrations in Algeria, we plan in this project to carry out research on the macroscopic level by gathering data on the historical and current trends of this type of migration as well as, at the microscopic level, to carry out investigations on these migrations at the local level.
