Project type : Institutional Projects (PE)
Theme : Cities and Urban Practices
Summary

In Algeria, land transformations are a major component of territorial dynamics. They are oftenexpressed in terms of "tools", thustranslating the search for a technical, legal or economic formula allowing the control of the land resource in the service of development.

The periurbanspace of the city of Oran iscurrentlyexperiencing a wave of acceleratedurbanization. The agricultural area isdiminished by pushing the city limitstowardsits "hinterland". This competition in the use of periurban land forces us to wonder about the different land regulations put in place by local authorities and governmentdepartments.

Regulationsthatnormallyseek to reconcileconflicting orientations, namely the development of the residential and / or economicattractiveness of the territorieswhilepreservingtheir agricultural and / or naturalcharacter.
The aim of thisresearchprojectis to analyze the different transformations of land governance in the Oran periurban area. On the basis of the stakeslinked to the sprawl of the city and the articulation betweenprivatelogic and public action, thisresearchwilltry to demonstrate how, between agreement and litigation, is land governanceorganizedbetween the variousactors? How is the public action for land to agricultural and natural areas periurbanrenewed?
