Dynamics of Language Representations and Verbal Repertoires of Sub-Saharan African Students in University Mobility in Algeria : A Sociolinguistic Approach

Project type : Institutional Projects (PE)
Theme : The University and Its Stakeholders
Summary

For many years, English has been the world’s leading language in the fields of science, technology, and business, as it is essential for knowledge sharing and innovation. Its importance has increased with technological growth and global communication. English has now become indispensable for accessing research and participating in international discussions. The Ministry of Higher Education is aware of this and has launched initiatives aimed at using English as a language of instruction in various disciplines, including economics, in order to align Algerian higher education with global standards.

However, teachers and students face several challenges, particularly in economics, due to their limited proficiency in English and the lack of resources such as dictionaries. The absence of a bilingual English–Arabic dictionary for economic terms creates significant difficulties, affecting both learning and professional engagement. To address these issues, the project proposes the creation of an online English–Arabic economic dictionary to support educators, learners, and professionals.
